“I said in my heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time for every purpose and for every work.” – Ecc 3:17

The third biblical way to overcome procrastination is to keep a priority list and checking off each task according to the date and time on the list. Make a habit not to leave what need to be done today till tomorrow or otherwise it will accumulate into an insurmountable mountain. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble off its own.” (Matt 6:34) “Yesterday” was gone and you cannot change it, “tomorrow” never comes, “now” is a present and opportunity from God for us to make a difference to our eternal destiny.

In Christ we will not be judged for our sin due the finished work of Christ on the cross. However our work i.e. our attitudes and deeds will be judged and rewarded accordingly in the age to come. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2Co 5:10) In fact in 1Pe 4:17 says, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”

“..The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all” (Ecc 9:11) Hence it has nothing to do with your background or how gifted you are but how you make every opportunity to live for God’s purpose today.

Let’s pray.

Lord, thank you for your precious gift of time and help me to redeem the time for the age is evil. Amen.

Before we go, take a look at the questionnaire below:

1. Do you have a habit of making a priority list? Why is it said that this list can effectively help us manage time and tasks, preventing things from piling up?

2. How does Matthew 6:34 help us understand and deal with worries about the future when planning and completing tasks?

3. Meditate on 2 Corinthians 5:10 and 1 Peter 4:17. Consider how these passages can impact our work attitude and lifestyle.
