“He who tills his land will have plenty of food, But he who follows empty pursuits will have poverty in plenty.” – Pr 28:19

The fourth biblical way to overcome procrastination is to know and keep the “main thing” the “main thing”. This important knowledge will help us to prepare your priority list. The main thing always has to do with something of eternal value and significance whereas minor things always relate to our empty pursuits in life. We must refuse to “major on the minors” by throwing off everything that hinders and sin that so easily entangles to distract us from the ‘main thing” or the purpose God has called us. (Heb 12:1)

Sometimes it is very easy to get overwhelmed by many things we need to do and totally lost the plot God has for our lives. Hence it is always good to pause and reflect on what we are doing now and ask ourselves honest questions like: “Am I responding to God’s calling by faith?” “Am i enjoying in the presence of God or toiling in the lies of the devil?” “Am I just trying to please men rather than God?” “Am I just too exhausted and loss my joy in serving the Lord?” “Am I responding by fear or faith to all my challenges in life?”

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Ps 46:10) Waiting upon the Lord is not trampling our feet on the same spot but constantly aligning our spirits with the Spirit of God in the process of hearing His gentle whisper. Another word for “wait” is “hope” in the Lord, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints. (Eph 1:18). Let us wait upon the Lord and renew our strength to soar on wings like eagles, so that we will run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. (Isa 40:31)

Let’s pray.

Lord, thank you for your calling to keep me focus on the main thing. Please help me to constantly align with your purpose so that I will not get distracted by the minor things around me. Amen.

Before we go, take a look at the questionnaire below:

1. Do you enjoy God's presence in your daily work and life, or are you laboring under the devil's lies?

2. Reflecting on your behavior, have you ever sought to please people more than to please God?

3. What are the three most important things in your life? Have you spent enough time, energy, and attention on these three things?
